The Northeastern Local School District encompasses 117 square miles. Our busses transport over 700 students on 16 bus routes at around 1000 miles a day. Approximately 23,000 miles per month are put on our fleet of 22 busses. Including regular bus routes and special trips, around 3,000 gallons of fuel are used each month. For the school year 2015/2016, our busses range from the oldest 1999 to the newest 2016. The Northeastern bus fleet of 22 has a total of more than 2,000,000 miles. It is very important to keep busses as up-to-date as possible for safety and to keep repair costs at a minimum. Busses are, however, very expensive costing about $89,000 each. The Northeastern School District replaces the oldest bus on an annual basis and as the budget permits.
