Please join us on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Tinora Performing Arts Center for a heartfelt and inspiring event—the Grand Piano Dedication Ceremony. This public celebration will feature live performances by Tinora alumni and local artists, highlighting the powerful role music plays in our community and schools.
This new grand piano is more than just an instrument—it’s a tribute to a life deeply rooted in music, family, and the Tinora spirit.
My name is Emilie Parsons, and I am the daughter of the late Becky Buchhop, a remarkable woman whose love for music and dedication to the Tinora music program left a lasting mark. In 2019, my mom was diagnosed with a rare form of uterine cancer and fought courageously until her passing in August 2020. She was not only an incredible mother, but also a devoted church organist and passionate supporter of the arts—especially during the years my siblings and I were students at Tinora.
After her passing, our family knew we wanted to honor her legacy in a way that reflected her love for music and her unwavering support of Tinora. The Performing Arts Center was in need of a grand piano for its stage—a need that felt like the perfect opportunity. Years ago, my mom was instrumental in helping secure a baby grand piano for Tinora in the early 2000s. Now, I’ve had the privilege of carrying that passion forward by leading fundraising efforts to bring a new grand piano to our school in her memory.
Thanks to the Northeastern Local School Fund and the incredible generosity of our community, this dream has become a reality.
The dedication ceremony is not just about unveiling a beautiful new instrument. It’s about honoring a legacy, celebrating our shared love of music, and recognizing the community that made it all possible. Though my mom won’t be here to see my children perform on the Tinora stage, knowing they—and future generations—will sing and play music in her honor fills my heart with joy.
We warmly invite you to attend this special event. Come celebrate with us as we dedicate a new chapter of music, memory, and community at Tinora.
