This past school year, Tinora took a powerful step forward in supporting the social and emotional development of its students through the ROX Program (Ruling Our eXperiences). This evidence-based initiative is designed to equip girls with the tools they need to navigate today’s challenges with confidence and strength.
At Tinora, the ROX Program is offered specifically to 6th-grade girls, giving them the opportunity to build essential life skills during a pivotal stage of their development.
Superintendent Mrs. Nicole Wells led the program for a group of Tinora students during the second semester. Meeting once or twice a week, the group created a safe and supportive space for open conversation, self-reflection, and skill-building.
“I was inspired to teach the ROX program because I see firsthand how much today’s girls are navigating, from self-doubt and peer pressure to social media and academic stress,” said Mrs. Wells. “I wanted to be part of building their confidence and resilience.”
Throughout the semester, participants learned to manage friendships, set healthy boundaries, boost self-esteem, and develop positive body image. They also explored strategies for handling stress, staying safe, and becoming stronger communicators and leaders.
The impact was clear.
“Watching them grow more confident each week was incredibly rewarding,” Mrs. Wells shared. “It was a powerful reminder of how vital this program is for the future of our girls in the Tinora community.”
Paperwork for this year’s ROX Program will be sent home with 6th-grade girls once the school year begins. Families are encouraged to review the information and consider enrolling their daughters in this meaningful and empowering experience.
