A mic. One question. So many stories worth hearing.

Sometimes, all it takes is a pause and a simple question.

Recently, we set up a microphone at the high school with a sign that read: “Tell us something good that happened to you today (or recently).” No scripts. No pressure. Just an open invitation to share.

What followed was a collection of small but meaningful moments. Students and staff talked about simple joys, acts of kindness, proud accomplishments, and moments that made them laugh. Each response was different, but together they told a powerful story about our school community.

In the busyness of each day, it is easy to rush past moments like these. This experience reminded us of the positivity that exists when we take the time to listen. Sometimes, good things are happening all around us. We just need to ask and give people space to share.
