Friday night’s basketball game got a little extra Ram pride when our Early 5’s kindergarten students took the court to sing the Tinora fight song. Dressed head to toe in school spirit and led by their teachers, the students filled the gym with smiles, excitement, and energy that only our youngest Rams can bring.
This moment had been in the making since the first week of school. The students began learning the fight song early on, practicing every Friday and talking about upcoming games and Tinora teams along the way. Hearing a recording of the Tinora band playing the song helped build even more excitement and made the experience feel extra special.
At first, the idea of performing in front of a big crowd was a little scary. Some students were nervous and unsure they wanted to do it at all. But after practicing around the school, performing for staff, and singing for other kindergarten and first-grade students, those nerves turned into confidence. Practicing with the high school band was a big boost, too.
On game night, the best moments happened both on and off the court. The excitement in the lobby was contagious as students spotted friends and families arriving. Once they saw familiar faces in the bleachers and heard the crowd cheering and clapping along, any remaining nerves quickly disappeared.
Moments like this help build school spirit from the very start. They help students feel connected, proud, and part of something bigger. If you ever need proof of that impact, just listen on a Friday afternoon when the students make sure the fight song is sung before heading home, followed by a loud and happy “Go Rams!”
