Two Tinora Photographers Make School History

Two Tinora students have joined a very small group of student artists in school history to receive national recognition through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

2026 Tinora graduate Dryden White and current Tinora senior Corinne Vance each earned national recognition for their photography during the 2025–26 school year. With their achievements, White and Vance became just the sixth and seventh Tinora students in school history to receive an award at the national level.

Each year, Tinora art teachers Mrs. Erin Vance and Mrs. Prigge submit student artwork to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, a highly competitive program recognizing talented young artists and writers from across the country.

"This is a very competitive contest, even at the regional level," Mrs. Vance shared while recognizing the students at last spring's Tinora High School Awards Ceremony.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to identifying and celebrating exceptional artistic and literary talent among young people. Through the Awards, students have opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships.

Since the program's founding, Scholastic Award recipients have included some of the country's most celebrated creative figures, including Andy Warhol, Robert Indiana, and Cy Twombly.

Dryden is the son of Tim and April McCarty, and Corinne is the daughter of Tony and Erin Vance. Both developed their photography and digital art skills through Mrs. Erin Vance's yearbook and digital art classes at Tinora High School.

Congratulations to Dryden and Corinne on this outstanding achievement and for adding their names to Tinora's history!
