For Tinora High School students, getting involved can mean much more than adding another activity to their schedule. Sometimes, it simply starts with finding something that interests them.
Recently, Tinora High School gave students the chance to see what was available during a Club Fair held in the high school gym. Approximately 12 clubs and organizations set up tables, giving students an opportunity to stop by, ask questions and learn more about getting involved.
The fair included FCA, Book Club, Spanish Club, Student Council, FCCLA, Art Club, Ram Radicals, NHS, Science Club, Math Club, German Club and Chess Club.
Tinora High School Principal Matt Frey said the goal was to make it easier for students to learn about opportunities they might not seek out on their own.
Having all of the clubs together in one place also took some of the pressure off students who may be interested in joining something but aren't quite ready to walk into a meeting for the first time.
“The more students can feel connected to their school, the more pride they have both inside the building and outside,” Frey said.
That connection is one of the biggest reasons Tinora encourages students to get involved. Whether a student finds that connection through one club or several, Frey believes involvement can have a positive impact on their time at Tinora and even on how they view their school after graduation.
